a look through the glass
From our perspective.
The anticipated landing of the Giant Eagle Market District has happened.
From E. Main Street, windows surround more than half of this 2 story grocery store, making it inviting and beaconing excitement. Of course I would notice the windows because we have a family owned business called Pure Solutions Window & Chandelier Cleaning. Lot's of windows here.
Anyway, This is not your average Grocery store. As you enter through the front of the building your eyes will be drawn upwards towards the large balcony of "The Table" restaraunt.
You can take the elevator to get there. Press 2.
What's not to like about sharing a morsel or two and having a glass of wine while overlooking the beautifully maintained downtown of Bexley. Especially will The Table be a favorite as Fall approaches.
My wife Emily and I along with our 11 month old son Etzel had such a great time shopping here three nights ago. We met so many wonderful people. First, we started off with a lite dinner then some grocery shopping. I had the Greek salad, YUM! My wife had the Pad Thai. A little spicy for her, but I LOVED it! Spice is my middle name. Great fresh flavor.
You wouldn't believe how many people want to hold or talk to our baby. It felt like a family reunion where you meet all these great relatives that you never knew you had and then wonder "why haven't we done this sooner". What an example of a family oriented community Bexley is. The Market District is a Great way to tie this together. I must say I've not experienced this anywhere else to such a degree in the Columbus area. Very casual and positive.
There is a section dedicated to "Gluten Free" which is a must have, as well as many Kosher products. Produce was fresh and provided a nice variety. We picked up a Dragon Fruit which looks like a dinosaur egg with spikes. That will be fun to cut open and eat.
The potential for more community identity for this Market District is off the charts. As this store matures I imagine it will get even more involved in the needs and wants of the community. That is what we all want. A living, responsive grocery store that helps us live our lives with a little more ease and spunk.
Great job Giant Eagle. We will see you soon!
There are lots of companies in Columbus Ohio that offer window cleaning. As of March 22, 2015 there are at least 42. That being said, it should be qualified that not all companies however "specialize" in "professional window cleaning".
At times a business may be faced with a decision to adopt a "turn no kind of work away" mentality.
Think of it this way. Should one assume that a local bicycle shop having knowledge of 2 wheeled machines should also be able to service a Harley Davidson or an Italian Ducati motorcycle?(maybe they can) Yet, would you want to spend your money hoping for the best? Likewise a general cleaning company may not be able to handle specialty cleaning projects. Window Cleaning itself is a Skilled Trade.
It takes years of experience, a measure of intelligence, strong problem solving skills, balance, patience, and last but not least, hard work.
I recently heard this experience from a window cleaning associate who told this fitting example.
" So several weeks ago I gave a bid for a CCU(construction clean up) for $550. She said another company gave her the same price to clean up the entire house including the windows. I explained to her how those types of companies don't really know what they are doing when it comes to cleaning windows and they tend to scratch them. I then told her we also take scratches out of glass if she has any problems. Well guess who called me the other day. Razor Blade scratches all over the windows and the buyer won't close until they are replaced. I gave her a quote of $2,500 to take scratches out or I could replace them for $6,000. " -Doc's Window Cleaning
wow! This must have been a horrible experience for her. Did you notice how much the other company was willing to charge to do the windows? Their price for the windows was thrown in for free just to get the other work. Probably the most skill involved in the cleaning project was the proper cleaning of the glass. Yet, not aware of this, she went with the lowest price trying to (rightly so) save money. LESSON- if another company offers to do a service for significantly lower than a specialists price, it is because they lack the experience and know how that it takes to really do the job. You will more often than not end up with drip lines, streaks, still dirty or cloudy windows from punctured seals, or worse, what happened above. In this case, his clients choice was going to cost several thousands of dollars just from the window cleaning. It is hard for a sincere professional to explain this to a client without them thinking, "they are just trying to get my business." That is not true. At least not with Pure Solutions. Well OK, we do want your business. But only if you really value and appreciate what we are really about. We too have to protect ourselves from projects that come our way that are out of our level of professionalism. There are lots of other thing that go into cleaning glass. Moving furniture, nic-nacks, keeping carpets clean when bringing ladders inside, not marking up walls from ladders, taking the screens out properly with out damaging them, removing storm window and re-installing. Not tearing up flower beds or landscaping. Not stepping on the very friendly dog. Safely accessing windows that are positioned in unique places such as in cathedral ceilings, skylights. And if you have chandeliers to be cleaned, that is another specialty service all together.
3 simple questions to ask-
